A new Atari console?
Atari has released the first renderings of their upcoming Ataribox console along with… Not much else. A vague press release was sent out this morning to followers who signed up for updates on the Ataribox site. The hype was certainly real, but the details quite slim.
According to the promotional email, “Our objective is to create a new product that stays true to our eheritage while appealing to both old and new fans of Atari.”
As you can see from the photos, there will be different “flavors” of the new console, which sports the classic Atari “Fuji” logo. It’s a slick looking machine, featuring retro lines and a modern aesthetic. The woodgrain is a cool little touch of nostalgia, as well.
But what does it do?
Interesting question. The email mentions that both the woodgrain edition and the red/black edition will include HDMI, USB, and SD inputs, which leads us to believe that the internals will be at least somewhat modern. Unfortunately, according to the press release, we’re not going to learn any of that just now.
